Luke Henkeman

Youth Leadership Development

the world under my feet

Luke would like to be a clinical psychologist one day. But before he settles, he plans to travel and explore the world. Within a year of joining the QPC youth group he has attended six workshops, and is already an experienced peer facilitator.

Starting with a Lifeskills for Leadership camp, he followed immediately with a leadership development course, and then a Teenage Sexuality camp. By now he was helping to facilitate the courses—an activity he finds extremely stimulating.

"I am learning so much! I have opportunities to meet people, and am developing myself all the time."

Luke finds that his self-confidence has grown in many ways.

"I am now more independent, and can trust myself to make decisions. I have learnt how to look after other people. But I have also developed presentation skills in the workshops."

When he finishes his term as chairperson of the RYG, Luke would also like to get involved with the writing of the newsletter. It is clear that this young man will rise to meet life's many challenges.
