We, the board of the
Quaker Peace Centre, seek to recognise “that of God in everyone.”
We represent the Cape Western Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society
of Friends (Quakers), other groups or the best interests of the community
at large. We draw on traditional Quaker principles of peace, truth,
simplicity and sound financial management. These values find expression
in all religion and we value the contribution of all faiths in our
work and mission.
We seek to achieve transparent, participatory,
accountable, efficient and representative governance of the centre
such that it may become an organisation at the cutting edge of developments
in our understanding and practice of peace. We seek to ensure the smooth
running of the organisation in line with the constitution, policies
and financial stewardship. We seek to ensure financial sustainability
and the upholding of our legal responsibilities. We will maintain
oversight of the director’s responsibilities, ensure the development
of sound policies and adherence to the disciplinary and grievance
procedures. Together with the director we are accountable to funders
and other partners with whom we develop relationships. We will do
this through valuing and affirming people and the facilitation of
the achievement of the Centre’s vision by supporting staff in their
mission.
We value leadership that affirms people and
supports a participatory management style. We value staff developing
a critical awareness of the context in which they work and encourage
staff development and individual responsibility. We undertake to enhance
the organisation’s image.
